Worklist Alerts (Web)

In the October 2022 release, there are some dramatic changes in the Alert infrastructure. Some key points:

  1. Alerts are now generated from Worklists.
  2. Alerts are set up on the Web, but the condition that triggers the alert could occur from filling out a form on the device or the Web.
  3. CropTrak now supports three methods of Alert Notifications:
    1. Email
      1. Sends a plain text email to designated recipient(s).
      2. Supports the use of CropTrak hyperlinks in the email content that directs the user back to the application
    2. Push Notification
      1. Send notification to the application on the device.
      2. This is usually a visual indictor whose behaviors can be controlled within the device's settings by the use
    3. Text Messaging
      1. Send a plain text SMS message to a designated recipient
      2. Supports the use of CropTrak hyperlinks in the email content that directs the user back to the application

Contact CropTrak if interested in using the Text messaging/TinyURL functions. These must be configured for use with each client database.

In addition, the Email and Text Messages can be used in conjunction with the CropTrak Direct link feature:

Why Are There Three Ways to Send Information?

  1. Each has specific capabilities and restrictions.
  2. And it is also dependent on how an end user interacts with CropTrak products.

Email

  • Dependable to deliver.
  • If caught in Spam Filter, the end user recipient can take action to unblock it.
  • Requires no usage of Web, Mobile app, or anything.
  • If Users are in the User Table, they can receive the message and the additional TinyURL to fill out a form.
  • The downside is that the email message can be easily ignored or forgotten by the recipient.

Push Notifications (make a return to CropTrak)

  • These are notifications sent to users of the applications on devices and are exactly like other push notifications used by other apps.
  • Push Notifications are never filtered by the OS.
    • Note: They can be disabled by a User in the OS setting for the App.
  • Push Notifications work on both iOS and Android.

Push Notifications Appear on a Message Center

  • Tap on a line to open the Worklist filtered to the applicable Asset in the Worklist.
  • Message Center retains a history of all the Push Notifications sent to a user that remain accessible.
  • Messages that are no longer needed must be manually deleted.
  • Additional Useful Information:
    • More intrusive and more likely to gain attention.
    • Good back up for a “to do” list.
    • They always get delivered – even internationally.
      • Users must install and download the functionality.
