If you have a user who is logging in for the first time, check that their email and password are correct. If they still get an “Invalid user name or password error,” have the admin log in and edit the user. Go to the WEB PERMISSIONS tab and just click SAVE. This may clear up the issue.
Note that an email address can only be used once, so if the email is used by multiple accounts you may also get this error. You will need to ensure that all of your users have unique email addresses. And they must have an email address associated with their user account to access the web portal.
