This document discusses Asset Creation Worklists, or Asset Management Worklists, and how they are used to create as well as re-name, re-shape and delete existing assets in CropTrak Web.
In the demo video, we have two asset creation Worklists available:
- One is for creating Field assets for your farm,
- and the other is for creating Zone assets in the fields of your farm.
Your operation may have many more Asset Management Worklist options depending on your setup.
Creating Field Assets
Clicking on the Field Creator Worklist opens up the Data Entry panel.
Note that Field Creator Worklist is based on your farm assets – since you will be creating field assets for the selected farm. On the other hand, the Zone Creator Worklist will be based on field assets.
If we click on the Open Form option for the Taunton farm, we can start entering fields for that farm.
Enter the Field Name, and then click on the field shape icon to open the map that you can begin digitizing your field on. Zoom in on the map until you are located at the area where you will be defining your field assets.
Begin the digitizing process by clicking “Add Region” (for entering a polygon) or “Add Circle” (to enter a circle) in the Asset Digitizer Menu bar at the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
Then start to outline your field asset by clicking on the map to drop points to outline your asset. Keep dropping points until you have outlined the area of your field. When you are finished outlining the area of your field, click on Save in the Asset Digitizer Menu bar.
Once you have your polygon saved, you can right-click on it to select it and then left-click it to put it in EDIT mode. When the vertices are displayed you can drag them by hand to re-size or edit your field polygon. This is useful for digitizing unusual field shapes that occur from naturally forming boundaries in field.
When you are finished editing the polygon, click Save again, and then click on the Apply button in the lower right-hand corner of the map box.
This will bring you back to the Field Creator form, and now you can click on the “Floppy Disk” icon in the upper right-hand corner of the form to SAVE the form (and your newly defined asset).
To add additional field asset, click on the “Add New” button at the top-right of the screen, and repeat the above steps until you have completed adding all of your field assets for your farm. Don’t forget to Save each form as you complete it so your asset is also saved.
Editing and Deleting Assets
You can click any of your assets in the form history area of the page if you want to edit or delete an asset.
After selecting which form you want to work on, you can then edit the Field Name and click on the Polygon icon to access the Asset Digitizer map.
Creating Zone Assets
Clicking on the Zone Creator Worklist opens up the Data Entry panel. Note how the assets listed are Field Assets since Zone assets are based on fields, not farms.
Clicking on the “Open Form” option for field asset FloodL2 opens up the Zone Creator form for that asset.
This is a much simpler form that only requires that you digitize the zones. Note that the names of the zones are entered on the Asset Digitizer map – not directly on the form itself.
Clicking on the Polygon icon to the right of the Zone Create form item opens up the Asset Digitizer map where we can see the field asset “FloodL2” that we created using the Field Creator Worklist.
Our goal is to divide this asset into zones. We do that by selecting “Add Region” from the menu bar in the lower left-hand corner of the map and selecting an area of the pre-defined asset. Note that CropTrak’s zoning tools will automatically select the area outlined by your bounding box and create a zone from that.
Note that you will be unable to save the zone until you have named it. So after outlining the area of the zone, select “Details” in the Asset Digitizer Menu Bar and enter that information. If you try to save the zone before naming it, you will be prompted by CropTrak to enter a name.
If we keep adding bounding boxes to our asset, we can divide the asset into as many zones as we want. When we are finished defining the zones, we click on “Apply” in the lower right-hand corner of the Asset Digitizer map.
This will bring us back to the Zone Creator form page where we can see that all the information that we added about each zone including its name is now in the form. You can edit the name, edit the polygon for the zone, and/or delete the zone from this page.
Note that if you access the Asset Digitizer map from one of the “Additional Information” repeating sections zone icons, you will be able to view the zones, but you will not be able to edit the zones.
The only way to edit the zones is to click on the “Zone Create” button above the repeating sections. From here you can click on the “Edit” option in the Asset Digitizer Menu Bar, select a zone, and then proceed to edit that zone.
When you are done editing the zone, you click on the Save option in the Asset Digitizer Menu Bar. Note that if you want to create new zones while in this screen, you need to select the Asset first, then you will be able to select the “Add Region” option in the Asset Digitizer Menu Bar. When you’re done editing, click on the “Apply” button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
And with that we’ve created quite a complex cluster of zones for the selected asset – all of which can be managed from one location – the Zone Creator form.
Single Zone Creation
We have another asset in our demo called “DMO2” where we just want to create a single zone associated with that asset. This process is straight-forward. First we click on the “Open Form” option on the Data Entry panel page to access the Zone Creator form for that asset.
Once the form is open, we click on the “Zone Create” button.
This opens the Asset Digitizer map for the asset. First we click on the “Details” option in the Asset Digitizer Menu Bar so we can name the zone.
Clicking on the Details option opens that dialog box – enter the name of the zone you are creating and hit the “Close” button.
Now hit “Save” or the “Remainder” option to apply the name to the entire zone, and then click on “Apply” to finish the zoning process.
The Worklist Asset Creation workflow should really clarify zoning for users
- to ensure that everyone is always using the correct asset types for the correct year,
- to ensure that they can see all their already created zones per asset in a single unified and clear location.
The point is to keep things focused on where attention needs to be.
